Sarenza Trends: Fall / Winter 2013

Even though summer hasn't really kicked in yet, Sarenza presented their fall / winter trends last Tuesday at the Linden & Barbosa office in Amsterdam. And may I say: I fell in love, a dozen of times. There was a small presentation with the 10 trends for the next season. Those trends didn't contain too much colorful shoes, but one color will be very, very hot again next winter. And I love the color. I fell in love with the color before, but after seeing these shoes and heels, my oh my.

The party wasn't just to show the newest collection: it was also a true celebration, as the French website launched exactly one year ago in the Netherlands, and with success. Our small country is in the top 5 of the best selling countries for Sarenza, and that's mostly because of sneakers. We Dutchies just seem to love sneakers.. I guess something went wrong for me there.. I love heels more than I love sneakers (I've got aobut, uhm, three pairs of sneakers, and I've got over 35 pairs of shoes... Oops), but lucky for me: Sarenza also offers gorgeous, let me say that again, Gorgeous heels. I won't keep you any longer, let's go over those trends!

Grunge is back

Statement heels

The new black

Animal instinct

A touch of bling

Get a grip

Floral print

Sneaker chic

Deep purple vs burgundy red

Black and white

Have you already picked a favourite?? I couldn't choose, so I picked two: the L. K. Bennett embellished heels & the burgundy red Sonia Rykiel heels. Gorgeous (you should definitely sing gorgeous on a very high tone, that's what I just did. It's pretty much what I always do, hehe) !!

Ok, no, sorry, I have a third favourite: the Sam Edelman studded (stunning) heels. Oh, and sorry for the pic overload as well :-)

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier

Last Sunday I went to the exhibition from Jean Paul Gaultier at Kunsthal Rotterdam. It was the last day of the exhibition, so I was super glad my mother saw that. So we had a nice Mother's Day trip to Rotterdam and went to check out this gorgeous happening. Because gorgeous, yes, it certainly was. It was such a pleasure for the eyes. The pieces of art were all gorgeous, I noticed a tiny little ballet theme (or maybe my eyes saw what they wanted to see), as many of the shoes reminded me of ballet shoes, and there were even pointes on one of the mannequins shoulders.

There were mostly pieces of the haute couture collection in the exhibition, but also a couple of pieces of the prĂȘt a porter collections. There were six themes that leaded you through the exhibition: The Odyssey of Jean Paul Gaultier, the Boudoir (filled with red lights and some (may I say) kinky positions of the mannequins), Skin Deep, Punk Cancan, Urban Jungle and Metropolis. The pieces were "brought to life" by the mannequins: moving faces were created by using beamers. It was kind of scary at first to see this, because some of the faces were very, very real. But you kind of got used to it and my eyes were totally pulled to the pieces, less to the faces of the mannequins.

I tried to take pictures of everything, but the lighting was different in each room, so I had to change my settings every room to get the best pics. So here's what I did: I just decided to make a movie about it. It took Youtube quite some time to get the movie online, but it finally worked! I decided to make this movie a bit later than the first room, so I've also got some pics for you.

Enjoy!

And now for the movie.. It's about 9 minutes long but after the pics and the movie, you've pretty much seen the exhibition! So if you've missed it (Dutchies) or if the exhibition won't be in your country for a couple of months, but you're already excited to have a (kind of shaky, I'm sorry) preview: don't hesitate to watch it!

Would you like to see more videos like this one? Or do you think this is extremely stupid and that I should never, ever do it again?

By the way: "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier" will be in Stockholm from the 15th of June until the 22nd of September this year! Any of you going?

P.S. any of you watching the Eurovision right now? Do you already have a favourite? :-)

Parisienne

The end of the schoolyear is coming nearer and nearer. I've almost finished my first year at the Utrecht School of the Arts. It's been a great year, and as the months pass I'm getting excited for summer, but also a bit nervous: will I pass my propaedeutic year? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Will you cross your fingers for me? :-)

What I'm wearing:
New Look playsuit // Esprit heels (from Rinske // H&M hat

This little playsuit really made me feel like a Parisienne in the Netherlands! I love the color and the belt with it. The texture is great, it's a bit of a shiny fabric, which makes it look a bit more chic. The pics below were taken by Rinske last Sunday, when the weather was still amazing! It seems like I just can't stop talking about the weather. But it's been so strange here the last couple of months. It seems like yesterday that it was still super cold, and I was shaking in my thick winter coat. A couple of days ago I wore shorts, and now it's somewhere in between. It's not bad, but it's not good as well... I guess that's just the Netherlands. It keeps fascinating me in a way, otherwise I wouldn't talk about it in probably each post I've written in the last couple of months... Well, maybe it'll get better when I get used to the good (or bad, you'll never know...) weather again.

I'm super excited for summer holidays by the way. I'm going to France (celebrating my 19th birthday there on the 9th of July) and to Hungary in August. Do you have any plans??
